At the heart of the creative economy, soft skills are becoming increasingly crucial in transforming the way we experience, narrate, and enhance cultural heritage. Cultural Bees was created with this specific goal: to implement a training programme that combines entrepreneurial, cultural, and sustainability skills.
The project provides young people (aged 15 to 30) with the tools and competences needed to develop innovative projects in the Cultural and Creative Industries (CCI) and the Cultural Heritage (CH) sector.
The training programme integrates:
-
Experiential activities: Related to cultural heritage (field visits, workshops, project work).
-
Digital tools: The use of emerging technologies to create new forms of cultural engagement and storytelling.
-
Co-creation: Moments with stakeholders, educators, and professionals to bridge the gap between education and the world of work.
A European Project: Three Years of Work
Over the past three years, Cultural Bees has built a network of international partners active in entrepreneurial education, digital innovation, and cultural heritage enhancement. Together, they have designed innovative curricula and educational tools to reduce the gap between education and the real needs of the CCI and CH sectors.
The Partnership Includes:
Junior Achievement Europe (BE), Junior Achievement – Young Enterprise Cyprus Limited (CY), C.A. InnoEUsphere Limited (CY), Univerza v Novi Gorici (SI), Consorzio Materahub Industrie Culturali e Creative (IT), Danmar Computers SP Zoo (PL), Junior Achievement-Young Enterprise Italy (IT), Isola Catania Impresa Sociale Srl (IT), ANCI Lombardia (IT), Dzhuniar Achiyvmant Balgariya (BG), Ikonomicheski Universitet – Varna (BG), Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO (CY).
Understanding Sector Needs: Two Key Reports
To ensure the programme reflects real-world dynamics, Cultural Bees launched an analytical phase resulting in two fundamental reports:
-
National Ecosystem Forum (NEF) Report: Identified specific areas for tailored curricula based on the experiential value of heritage and the integration of AI and Augmented Reality.
-
State-of-the-Art Report: Analyzed job postings (LinkedIn, Adecco) across six partner countries, confirming that organizations seek profiles capable of operating in dynamic, collaborative, and digital environments.
Soft Skills at the Core: Skills for the Creative Economy
The NEF Report emphasizes entrepreneurship, following the European EntreComp framework. Essential skills are grouped into three areas:
Key Milestones of the Project
1. Kick-off in Cyprus (February 20–21, 2024)
The official launch where partners defined the shared vision and the work plan focused on education and entrepreneurship.
2. Consortium Meeting in Brussels (February 13, 2025)
A crucial moment for evaluation. Partners discussed report findings, dissemination data, and focused on the sustainability of outputs beyond the funding period.
3. The Days at BASE Milano (March 31 – April 1)
Junior Achievement Italia gathered the partners in Milan to align visions and outline next steps. The event included:
-
A workshop at the Scala Theatre.
-
A visit to MUDEC.
-
Co-creation labs to make the sector more inclusive and sustainable.
Future Perspectives
Cultural Bees aims to leave a lasting legacy: a training model that connects schools, universities, and cultural institutions. By investing in transversal skills and creativity, the project not only prepares new professionals but contributes to a more open and dynamic cultural sector.
